Ghana’s former High Commissioner to the UK, Victor Smith, says he wept when he saw ex-President Rawlings hobnobbing with Akufo-Addo during his investiture.
Nana Addo’s investiture, has been described by political watchers as a colourful event which also saw Ghana’s political leaders displaying a high sense of unity in politics amidst difference in ideas.

But Ambassador Victor Smith intimated that the scene was a spectacle of grief for him, which dampened his spirit after their party’s terrible lost at the polls.
“I don’t know whether they cracked a certain joke, I was sad! Was he teasing us[NDC] or what? We’ve lost election and this was a big war machine and you were our number one Man, [Founder] so it broke my heart to watch that on T.V after the big loss.”
The NDC lost the 2016 general polls, both Presidential and Parliamentary in an election that the party was so confident of winning.
Nana Akufo-Addo, secured the presidency after a third time attempt, beating former President John Mahama with 53.85 percent of valid votes cast in last elections.
