Thomas Partey brought security to the Black Stars midfield

Ghana coach Avram Grant has labelled Atletico Madrid youngster Thomas Partey as a future star following the youngster’s 8-minute debut for the Black Stars on Sunday against Mauritius.

Partey, 22, came off the bench in the 82nd minute to replace Anderlecht man Frank Acheampong with the Black Stars already having a comfortable 2-0 lead at the Stade George V.

He brought security to the Black Stars midfield as they claimed a 2-0 win to seal their 21st appearance at the
AFCON finals.

The Atletico Madrid star was the only debutante to be feature for Avram Grant’s side while Astana’s Patrick Twumasi and AshantiGold defender Mohammed Kadri were unused substitutes.

Ghana coach Avram Grant revealed in a post-match interview with Happy FM in Port Louis that he has been following the progress of the lanky midfielder dynamo and believes he is capable of greatness.

“He [Partey] is a, good player. He is one for the future; and he did well with a lot of promise. I have been watching him for a long time,” Grant said after the game.
