The Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho, has called on the country’s security agencies to expedite investigations into the death of Abuakwa North Member of Parliament JB Danquah-Adu.
The murder of the late MP has heightened safety fears among MPs. Speaking during a courtesy call paid on him by the family of the late MP, Mr Doe Adjaho said the death of the late Danquah-Adu should not be taken for granted.
“What happened to JB can happen to any of us, and if we allow it and take it for granted, we don’t know who will be the next. So, we have received briefings at the leadership levels from the police, from the highest level of National Security. They have come to brief us on this matter. I remember that it was only one occasion that he took a position to file an amendment and he was prepared to push that amendment to its logical conclusion because he believed that position he was taking on the floor of the House. Apart from that it will be difficult to see JB pushing his view beyond a certain level,” Mr Adjaho stated.
The MP was killed on the dawn of Tuesday February 9, 2016 at his residence at Shiashie in Accra.
